Has anybody been to an anime convention before? Like a legit one.
There is one that is hosted in Dallas Tx every year and I'm thinking of going to this years. So hoping its worth while.
Any comments/complaints and advice?

I wrote out a really long enthusiastic reply to this, but then I realized the original post is from the same year I first went to A-kon! So, yeah, in case anyone else is wondering, A-kon is AWESOME and if you're in the DFW area, you should definitely go!

I go to about 5-6 cons a year in the midwest :) After Graduation I plan on going to more cons once I get a more secure paycheck. xD sadly after graduation I'm looking to more down into TX and I completely don't know the con seen down there so I'm hoping before I move and start going to cons I make a con buddy

I have been to one in my city and i think it is fun. There are cosplay and vendors and lots of other fun things to do. Great for anime/manga lovers.

Here in Romania the otaku culture had started raising in the last years I may say. We have two yearly conventions and since two years ago I started attending them, too. No cosplay though ._. But it's a fun atmosphere. Btw Lux, your cosplay is cute =^^= I rally love CCS

Having lived in southern California most of my life, I've attended Anime Expo and Anime Los Angeles. Cons are fun, but it's a lot of hard work. It brings out a lot of emotions for people- it's the highest of the highs and lowest of the lows.

For me, I love the chance to create scenes with cosplayers and snap great shots. It's a great opportunity to reach out to your fellow fans in real life and just be silly.

However if one is easily overwhelmed it can be a lot to take in.

Go for the entire weekend if you can afford it and to get the experience . .

But you can also get a lot out of shorter spurts.
