So, which do you prefer... Manga or anime?

Now, this is based on 1) Art, 2)Plot, 3)Pacing, 4)Character Portrayal, and anything else that would influence you particularly on this subject.

For me, I prefer manga. This is because I don't particularly like most of the seiyuu's acting/voice overs. Also, if it's and English dub... it's sometimes painful. As of plot, there are many anime out there that are great; however, around episode 15 the pacing for most anime that I've seen begin to lag. In manga, it's harder to tell when it starts to lag... and it's only prominent when dealing with poor story telling on the mangaka's part and extension of the series by the publisher. Art, most of the time the body moments are stiff in anime and do not flow well.

So, that's my reason for my preference; what's yours?

I agree, anime dubs are painful to hear, and sometimes the girls' voices are too high-pitched for my delicate eardrums to handle. I like manga over anime. Another reason is that the anime always catches up to the manga and they have the weird as fillers or they end it with a really crapp ending.

But for fighting shounen mangas, such as Fairy Tail, Naruto and Bleach, I like anime because sometimes I don't really get what's happening in the manga.

=D

honestly, i cant choose both of them.. i like both of them.. manga and anime is same, i thought ^^
in anime, i can see the character i like in manga is moving.. and it's colored :D
for example, skit beat.. i can see kyoko's devil aura moving!!! it's funny...

but, sometimes it's disapointed me if the ilustration isnt good as in manga :(

in my opinion, manga is much better than anime with a few exceptions. the manga usually skips the fillers, unless you read ranma 1/2 then its all fillers >...> (waste of my time!!!!!), and has the specifics of the story and many details that the anime skips. anime can be fun for animation, but i always disagree with voice actors now because i always imagine the voices differently and it bothers me!

Manga!! It leaves a bit more to the imagination (i.e. voices) so I'd usually choose manga. =) When the voice acting and directing are good, though, some anime are just as awesome!! =D

Usually doesn't really matter to me, but I generally gravitate towards manga since it's generally better in terms of story/art being the original xP

Manga. The animes usually don't live up to the mangas I read D: Most animes are like 25 episodes too right? They usually don't have satisfying endings. So you're better of reading the manga. and like Jenangelx3 says, I enjoy all the specific information that animes usually leave out.

It would be Manga for me. The anime is less detailed and always cut short.

I prefer manga. While I love watching anime, I usually watch it because I liked the manga. I think the story telling in manga is much more in-depth than in animes and parts that stick out in my mind in the manga are usually passed over in the anime. (It's all about preference I guess)

Bit I do get excited when a manga I love is turned into an anime.

I prefer manga... although some animes are better than mangas.... like MAJOR! :) :D but then most of the mangas are better than the animes. :) sometimes, the voice actors dont match the anime character so it doesn't sound that good... but there really are some animes that are better than mangas! ^^

Depends on the manga/anime-sometimes I like the manga much better and other times I'm all for the anime. Some for the genres as a whole-I tend to stick to manga, but I can go on multi-day anime binges just as easily.

It depends. There are several animes which I prefer over mangas, for example Ghost Hunt. But usually I read manga, a lot of manga, so I guess that's my choice.

The most of the time, I prefer manga. The animes are often too short or the adaptation sucks :P

Honestly... I can't choose one of them... They have their own characteristic... ;D
like Kuroshitsuji and Kaichou wa maid sama... I prefer the manga because it has more interesting plot than the anime...
But if we talk about Naruto... I prefer the anime... Since usually anime like this has more additional episodes... But now it has too much episodes... ;P *I never watch Naruto again*

but yeah... I only watch japanese dubbed anime... Because somehow I can really hear their emotion when they talk... I rarely hear this in other dubbing... No offense~!
I'm just an ordinary girl

It depends. But more on manga.

Manga - It is more easier to read and less time to download.
Anime - If it for the funny moments and action scenes.

I like manga more
Because I rarely have time to watch anime...
and because I always in touch with my computer (for my studies), I think manga is the most suitable for my condition...
It's true I can download some anime, but it takes some time to finish it (because anime has a large size)
So it depends with my condition and the quality for manga and anime..

I generally like manga more than anime, but that depends on the situation. If an anime is based on a manga, I'll like the manga first. If a manga is based on an anime, the anime of course. Now if both manga and anime are released at the same time, I prefer the anime.

I like manga better because it goes into more detail of the plot and the characters are more developed. I also have time to read manga and not so much time to watch anime. I like the art in both manga and anime but it is nice to see it in anime since it is in color. Also action scenes in manga are nicer to see in anime.

I have always been the sort of person who prefers the written work over the movie/show and that did not change with manga/anime. It's too easy for me to get distracted when watching something and anime lacks the depth that a manga has, to me.

I prefer manga most of the time because most of the time the anime adaption isn't as good as the manga. But for manga like Gintama I like watching the anime first before reading it in the manga because its so funny the voice actors are great.
