I have several female singers I really like and I keep finding new songs and singers I like.
But I suppose amongst the ones I have the most songs of are...

Ayumi Hamasaki
Utada Hikaru
Maaya Sakamoto (I pretty much love everything about this woman!)
BoA
Mizuki Nana (I dislike some of the roles she plays, but her "normal" voice is great)
Megurine Luka (My favorite female Vocaloid!)

My favorite female singer from Japan is Yōko Kanno sensei (jap. 菅野 よう子). She is the lead singer of the Jazz band, called "The Seatbelts". She also composed a lot of opening and ending songs for countless Anime series as well as complete Soundtracks (for example "Wolf's Rain, Ghost in the Shell, Darker than Black, Macross Frontier", ...). She is a very talented musician. I grealty admire her handiwork.

I got to know her music when I first watched the Anime series "Vision of Escaflowne" and "Cowboy Bebop" in 1998. Since that time I simply love her music. She is indeed my favorite female singer/composer of Japan.

I absolutely adore Kalafina. While their albums don't sound amazing (I don't know what happens during editing/production, but it aggravates me), they sound ridiculously enchanting live. >.<

I think they did the opening for Madoka and the opening or ending for Kuroshitsuji's Second season...

I don't know if she counts since she's not actually Japanese, but BoA has a really nice voice. She has lots of Japanese albums and songs I believe.

I'm a huge fan of Kana Nishino. She has such a gorgeous voice, and the BGM is great! (I cracked up so much when she was mentioned in Ore Monogatari!!. Her songs really are sappy.)

Heyo!

Alanna-Marie Bourdreau is American and has one of the sweetest voices ever, in my opinion...

And IU! I'm learning how to play one of her latest songs, 'Knees' on guitar. So pretty <3

Don't really have a favorite singer since I just like to hear songs that appeal to me but I have noitced that I like Nana MIzuki alot so I will go with her.

Of course there are popular female voice actors that sing well so I try to listen to their works.

And all the female vocaloids because they bring creativity that is available to people that can't sing or have someone to sing for them.
